It is a new dawn to Sleep Science. Editors, authors, reviewers and readers of this respected journal have many reasons to celebrate. Sleep Science is now part of Elsevier, the world's biggest scientific publisher.

Due to the effort of our Editorial Board and the high quality of the published papers over the past few years, we accomplished two of the main goals of the journal: indexation in an international database (Scopus) and the management by a major scientific publisher. More important: all these goals were reached maintaining our major compromise: to remain as an Open Access journal; providing high quality research on Sleep Medicine with no costs to the readers neither to the authors.

With this transition, we expect a much greater international visibility to our articles and, consequently, to our Journal. From now on, newly published articles will be immediately available in Science Direct, a leading full-text scientific database, which will assure that every article published by Sleep Science will be available to readers worldwide. Moreover, we also expect an increase in the number of submissions and in the quality of our articles. Indeed, we are already observing the first immediate effects of these new achievements: within the first two months of Sleep Science's submissions being managed through Elsevier submission system, we witnessed a major increase in new submissions.

The increased number and quality of our publications, alongside with citation count provided by Scopus, will allow us to look for further and higher goal, which includes indexation on Pubmed/Medline and the inclusion in the Journal of Citation Reports (JCR), for the calculation of an impact factor in the near future. This attests our commitment to the publication of high quality research regarding Sleep and Chronobiology, and to the continuous growth of our journal
